Computer problem???

Post by Spiffie »

Does anyone know why when I try to click on a SVG file from this site, the box comes up and says "Save as Safari Document"? I then have to change it to "All Files" before I can open it with SCAL! It is driving me crazy and did not always do this. I was using the Safari browser at one point, but I am now using IE 8. I have removed the Safari program from my computer.

Thanks!

Not sure if this will help but have you tried changing the file association? I'm guessing that your computer is linking SVG files to Safari and you need to change the association.

Here's how to do it in Windows Vista:

Open the folder that contains the file you want to change. (Any SVG file you have saved on your computer.)

Right-click the file that you want to change, and then, depending on the type of file, either click Open With or point to Open With and then click Choose Default Program.

Click the program that you want to use to open this file.

If you want all files of that type to open in the same software program, select the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file check box, and then click OK.

Thanks, Deloris. I have tried that, too! I hate when stuff like this happens! I am sure it is something simple to fix, but GRRRRR!

If you like Safari, try Google Chrome. They are very similar, and I'm not having problems with the svg file type like I do with Firefox.
