I have only used my cricut to cut vinyl, but now I want to start making some cards. What is the best thing to use to adhere the cutouts to the cards. I am assuming some kind of glue, but what kind does everyone use? Also, is there really a difference between printed papers as far as cutting is concerned?
Thanks
Card making question
Re: Card making question
If the pieces are large and intricate I use my xyron. I have one of the original's so it will do an 8 1/2 x however long I need it to be. If it is something that I can use a tape runner on I use my ATG.
I've only cut a couple of pieces out of pp and I didn't see any difference, but I've only had this set up since the middle of December, so I am a newbie to figuring it all out.

Re: Card making question
If your cutting paper to go on top of a card base, it can be any weight, just adjust your blade depth and pressure on the Cricut machine to match the weight of paper used.
If your cutting cardstock for the card base, then I would recommend you use a heavier weight quality cardstock like Bazzil or Stampin Up so the card won't fall over if you attach a lot of pieces to the front.
For adhesive to attach larger cardstock pieces to a card base, I use a Ad tech tape roller that I buy at Walmart, or for smaller pieces, I use Mono multi glue.
Lighter weight papers or vellum would require a special adhesive so the papers don't wrinkle.
I also use Scotch double sided tape, glue dots or poster mounting tape depending on what I am attaching to the card front.
I don't have very good luck with Joann's cardstock with my Cricut. No matter what I try, the blades won't cut it cleanly and it's really hard to remove it from the Cricut mat.

Re: Card making question
I tend to use double sided tape for joining card or a tape runner for light things such as thin card or paper. If I am using mirri board I will use dst. For anything such as stamp board, chipboard or glitter card I use a silicone type or photo glue.
I don't know if these things are available in the States as I am in the UK
Hope it helps

Re: Card making question
I use just a lttle bit of Zip Dry glue. I like the zip dry if i am gluing down large items such as mats. If it is a light weight piece, I use Zig two way glue pens.(I have several different sized pens)
