Okay.... definately having a problem with v0.46 Inkscape

Basically stating: It's crashing! It is corrupting my .jpeg and .bmp files to the point that I can't even open those files in another graphic program!!!! Ugh!

Here's what I am doing: Copy/past an image to PaintShop Pro. Save it there as either .jpeg or .bmp. Open same file in Inkscape, trace, save as with .svg file extension. Interesting point here: Then it tells me the file already exists, I choose overright, a red x appears on the tracing and the svg file AND the original file is gone.......... yadda............. gone...........

So........ sounds like I have to go back a version in Inkscape. Any one have any other ideas?

Using WinVista....... don't ya love it???

Are you changing the name of the file before you save it. When I prepare a .bmp file to open in Inkscape, I always use the same name. It overwrites the file but once I have created a file in Inkscape I am satisfied with, I don't need it anyway. Using the same file name, you don't create a lot of images you will use only once.

For instance, all my bitmap files are named picture1.bmp when they are saved and loaded into Inkscape. I use File>Open Recent and the file is there...don't even have to look for it. So of course, when I save the .svg file, I have to give it a name that relates to the file.

The only problem I am having in Inkscape it with the Trace Bitmap. Sometimes I open it and it is blank. I changed my preference from Floating to Dockable and it's fine...just dock it. Before, Trace Bitmap would minimize to the taskbar and I could just use the same setting over and over...not now.

Strange I've not had any of those probs at all with the 0.46 version.
