Another Newbie and more Questions!!

Post by Smekat »

 Ok... I love SCAL...My man got it for me for Xmas. I have been finding a few SVG files and playing around with some of the things on there...
So now I want to go a step further...

1. Do I need a base cartridge in my cricut to cut from SCAL??
2. Will the shadow button work on the cricut for some words or objects done in SCAL or will I need to create shadow effect myself? For Instance I have made my friends name for her Birthday, but want the shadow effect for the backround of the name and need to know how to do it as I cannot find a shadow button within SCAL.
3. Where is the BEST place for FREE SVG files, I have a few, but want some 3D cards to make, I have no issue in buying some that I know I will use again and again, but I really don't want to pay for something I may only make once in my life!!
4. Is it only SVG files that can be used with SCAL/Lib it up??

Many Many Thanks for this wonderful programme...... I Love it... I hated paying that much money for Cricut cartridges!!

Welcome.

Yes, you need any cartridge in your Cricut to cut - it doesn't matter which one

The shadow function you can do in SCAL, it is in the right hand side - under Appearance, then style, click the down arrow for shadowyou put in a number, the higher the number, the fatter the shadow. If you want to cut an item and then a shadow for it, copy the item and then shadow the second item.

There are lots of places for svg files. Lots of folks have blogs with free files, there is also

None of the buttons on the cricut work with SCAL - everything is controlled by the computer, except the blade depth and the pressure. Even the cutting speed is controled by SCAL.
