Can SCAL cut lines 2? Not just enclosed shapes?

I've been working on several designs for popup cards and braided paper (incere or lacé) in Inkscape using lines. These types of designs do not use enclosed shapes.

An example would be one half of a heart (so when it cuts you can fold it out of the page).

When I use any of these files in SCAL, they look great on the screen (in regular mode and in preview mode). But, when I cut, the starting point and the ending point of the line are joined, creating an enclosed shape.

So, my half heart line, because truly one-half of a heart (and cuts completely out).

I've attached part of a sample pattern I found on the web for a cupid popup. If you look closely, you'll see the large heart and the cupid are NOT enclosed shapes. When you trace this you get the "double line" problem (a fix to that would be great!) and if you re-draw it by hand, it completely cuts out the cupid.

Is it possible to cut a line using SCAL? If so, can anyone please tell me how?

Are you talking about the little heart??? If you are it's because it's completely joined as one.. You would need to take out a few of the bottom nodes in order for it to stay just cut in the paper and not right out...this is probably what you want????

I'm talking about the large heart and the cupid

The little heart is enclosed, so that works just fine.

The easiest way to do this is to set a stroke on the lines, adjust the stroke width if needed, then use Path/Stroke to path to get a closed shape for cutting. Another way to get a closed shape is to select the line, Control D, select both identical line sections, Control K. Use the node tool, select the overlapping end nodes and join them, then joint the nodes on the other end. HTH

Gotcha. So, I'm guessing is that SCAL can only do enclosed shapes and not lines, huh? Guess I'll add that to the wishlist...
