newbie needs help

Post by jesuisdiana »

I'm trying to convert a graphic using the Clever Someday cut and print tut. First after i did the "union" it's not all black, part of it is, the other part is white with some "parts" still in it, then I get to this part of the tut 8. "The resulting silhouette is shown, after changing its fill to none (click on swatch with red X) and its stroke to pink (shift-click on pink swatch) for the sake of visibility." Where do I change the fill to none - can't find it or "click on swatch with red x"

Appreciate any help
I just got an expression a couple weeks ago and I'm trying to learn/do everything at once.

Hi Diana,
Cleversomeday here :)
If you notice, step 6 says you image may turn black, it won't always. What matters is that you have the outline you want to cut. If you don't, you can repeat steps 5, 6, and 7 to eliminate more interior detail.
If you don't have a bar with colored swatches across the bottom of your screen, select view>palette to toggle it on. The red x means no fill (or no stroke) and it is the first swatch on the left. You can also choose view>swatches.
You can also set fill and stroke from the fill and stroke palette which is opened by selecting object>fill and stroke or clicking the button on the top of the screen with a diagonal paintbrush on it. I find this more confusing though so I prefer to just click (for fill) and shift click (for stroke) on the swatches if possible.
Hope that helps, but don't feel bad cuz this is not really a procedure for newbies.
