The 'help' tab is greyed out and unusable..

Post by KayM »

I am trying to update the firmware from the trial version of Cricut Design Studio. I followed the directions, which said to click on the "help" tab in Design Studio. All the tabs across the top of the page were greyed out, so I am unable to click on them. Did I do something wrong to create this situation? Does anyone know how I can fix this so I can update the firmware? My hair is getting more grey by the moment.....

Hi

I've just come across your question and you're not alone. I'm so frustrated I'm ready to tear my hair out!!! But I've been searching the forums and I think this might be the reason we're having so much trouble...

I had the exact same problem. You cannot install the trial DS on a netbook because it cuts off a bottom portion of DS which includes the icon to click to run it as a trial version (because a netbook does not have the minimum resolution dimensions DS requires). So all the choices remain grayed out. I tried tabbing down to the icon & that wouldn't work either. I had to install the DS trial on my regular desktop computer to be able to click on the right button for the trial version. Once I did that the buttons became un-grayed and I could update the firmware on my Cricut. It took me quite a while and a lot of frustration to figure this out. HTH"

So maybe its got something to do with this? I'm not using a netbook but I am using a laptop and even though my screen resolution is ok it does look like the screen is cut off. Anyway I just thought I'd put this up for you to read too. I'm going to go try downloading the trial version on my desktop to see if that'll work. Will let you know - fingers crossed :)

Hi again,

It all worked fine once I moved to my desktop :) There's a whole extra bit to the window and a button to use the trial version. Hope this helps you out :)
