Candy Cane Mouse help

Post by jaffasmith »

Hi,

I'm very new to scal so please be gentle.

I have a template that I copied from a blog link. It saves as a pdf file. The template can be found on dawnsstampingthoughts.com

I am unable to access this file in paint, inkscape etc.

I need to access it because it has bits & bobs that need deleting before I can cut.

I tried to follow pointers from another post on opening into inkscape but once opened I cant seem to update it?

I know I can create this from scratch but I would really like to resolve this without recreating.
You know what its like when you cant do something, it starts to bug you

Any help would be appreciated

I went to the website, but I couldn't find the file. Can you copy the complete address for the file location.

If you have Cricut Design Studio I do have a pattern. I am sorry but I don't know the designer so can't acknowledge their work. Please e-mail me if you are interested.

Hmm. The .pdf opened with no problem for me. Open Inkscape. Select "Import..." in the "File" menu. Select the "MOUSE.pdf" file. Done.

I finally got around to trying to cut this file. AIEEE!!! What a PAIN!

As with most PDFs there was a huge amount of grouping. So I ungrouped everything and then deleted all the text and annotations. Cut. What are all these extra lines?! Back to Inkscape. Turns out all the nice curves are not joined, but separate arcs - which seems to create an arc with a line joining the end points in SCAL. Join them together. Cut. Ugh, missed some. Again. Again. *sigh* FINALLY, I wised up and clicked the "Preview" icon - Of course everything was fixed by then.

Lesson learned. USE THE PREVIEW BUTTON!!!
