Oh my gosh!! I just got back from a weekend crop. I FINALLY understand what layering is all about. Someone there had all kinds of Disney characters. Each character was done with the appropriate colors - blue, yellow, white, etc. for Donald Duck, for example. I think they were using the Disney cart, but I'm not positive. The layers were wonderful!
So, yes, I'm on board for layers!

Re: Layers
I have the Disney cart, and the layers really add to their characters but BOY lots of work especially if they are in the smaller size for welding to photo mats and such. I made one for my g/f for her Disney scrapbook, had two 3" characters welded to each side of the photo mat (for a 4x6 photo...I only have the Baby Bug) then the "love that mouse" wording from the cart welded to the top with all the layers. The nice thing about using CDS with the cart was I am able to lay out all the layers on one mat using little pieces of each color paper and do them all in one cutting. Took me 2 hours to put it all together, though. HAHA

Re: Layers
I want to learn layering in SCAL too. First I have to learn how to get my image into Inkscape.. and make it a svg without losing it.. I'm glad you have had success . Congrats... I won't have a lot of time to work on learning as we are leaving on vacation on the 9th and getting back on the 20th.. I should be getting things done for the trip... Just have to keep up with what is new with SCAL and Inkscape...
