So, I bought a monogram alphabet and there is a border around each letter. I want to add a rectangle to bottom of the existing border to add text. Also, can I add text inside a shape? Can anyone help?

You should be able to bring the monogram into SCAL, draw the rectangle where you want it, but overlapping the monogram slghtly and click weld on both objects. Then just type in new text on top of the rectangle you added and it should cut out of the rectangle. Don't click weld on that text. Be sure to click preview to see if it looks like what you are after.
