First Time Converting To SVG

Post by jw2 »

I have downloaded inkscape and am trying to trace this image. Is it because there are no lines. What is the best way to do this? Thanks

Did you scan this? If you want to use a scan, it's better to have more contrast and a little higher resolution. Also, a light background is easier but not necessary. I couldn't get a good trace with that image since the background has little specks that are the same shade as in the train.

There are two other options for this image. It is made of pretty basic shapes, so you could easily recreate it using mostly shapes, and maybe a little bezier too.

Or you could just use the bezier tool.

I have had a little bit of time this morning, and have created the file for you.

I have three versions in the svg file.

The first one is the train, all the parts are seperate (cars and wheels)

The second one the wheels are attached to the train parts.

The third one, the whole thing is joined/welded together, just like the picture.

Updated... to delete my mat.

I downloaded your .svg file and might suggest that you delete the original file as the BIG RED X is in conflict with getting to the train. I was able to copy the train pieces and place them in a new file.

Very nice, I have some good ideas for this for the Holiday decorations.

Whose file is this so that I can properly give credit where credit is due?

Thanks to both of you anyway.
