polka dot font?

Post by heathercook »

I was just wondering if anyone knows of a font that would look like it had polka dots inside of the letters? I'm looking for one that would cut well because I am wanting to make a shirt with this writing. Thanks!!!

I've that one...maybe you can work it on Inksacape if you didn't find any other alternative.

It would be pretty simple to either make a dotted mask for use in Inkscape, or to simply add dots to a chunky font. :) Do you have an image online that you liked? I found this one that someone made using Cheri font and dots.

I downloaded CK Frosting and it looks ok. Perhaps if you tried to cut it in a really small size the dots might not cut out perfectly.

Cute! Cheri font is one of my favorites and my daughter's favorite for quick sayings on shirts. Is there a tutorial that would help me put the outlining around the lettering? My font doesn't come with the outlining and using shadow would put color behind the polka dots where I woudn't want color added. Suggestions appreciated.

What site can I download the CK frosting from? I can't seem to find this one with the polka dots. I have actually decided that my new years resolution this year will be to learn how to use inkscape (instead of losing weight ) I hope I can actually accomplish this one. Ha! Is there anyway someone could help me make this design in inkscape? I was trying to use the collegiate font with the words Stigler Panthers. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

I got it here http://www.windowfonts.com/fonts/ck-frosting.html
but if you "google" ck frosting there are several other sites.

The outline is pretty easy, just make your text (in Inkscape), in the example they changed the kerning so the letters are closer together. With the letters selected, Path/Linked offset (Control Alt J). Drag the little white square that will be at the top of the letters until you like the size of the outset. Repeat the linked offset steps for the outer line. When everything is how you like it, select all, Path/Object to path. If you want to cut it out of one color, you don't need to anything else unless you need to clean up extra pieces. See this post on Cutting Time for more info on linked and dynamic offsets. http://cuttingtime.blogspot.com/search/ ... 20a%20Font
and here for more on text kerning. http://cuttingtime.blogspot.com/search/ ... 20a%20Font

Thanks Heather! I so appreciate the time you take to help us new to this obsession!

I will play around with the outlining today. I think I figured out how to add the polka dots last night. But can you also direct me to the way they have used half dots on some of the letters? Will that just happen with mask if I let the "dot" hang over the top of the letter.
