I am using Oracal 631 black, and it will not stick to the tile I have. It is pretty cold here. Could cold tiles be the problem? I am also using clear contact paper to transfer the vinyl, which I have used before. Could the problem be the tile itself? I bought some 8 x 8" tiles with very little texture, and I cleaned all the tiles with a soapy rag. I then let them dry. What could I be doing wrong? I have this order due by Sunday and can't finish it.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Sonya
HELP, vinyl won't stick to tiles
Re: HELP, vinyl won't stick to tiles
I have had this come up with some tiles I got. I finally figured out that they had a small amount of glaze on them, keeping the vinyl from sticking well. I don't get anymore slick feeling tiles....HTH
Re: HELP, vinyl won't stick to tiles
Sonya,
What helped me was to use sandpaper and gently rub the surface to allow the tile to have some "teeth" for the vinyl to adhere to. Also, there is a difference in vinyl and when I do tiles I use outdoor (like what they use on boats and cars) instead of the indoor home decor type which is made to be removable. Good luck with your project!!!
