coloring page jpg into inkscape?

Hi,
I have found several tut's for inkscape, but I seem to be lost when I scan a coloring page type drawing (only black lines on white paper), and try to use inkscape. I am stuck on just that simple of a drawing. I can't seam to get past what to do. I would prefer a pdf that I could print out and follow, but a video would be great too, I can write it down. thanks
