Windows (shapes fonts properties table) docked

Post by Shelley »

I would like the windows to be docked permanently... They get in the way, so I am constantly closing or moving them... just to turn around and open them back up...

Maybe a dashboard where we choose which windows we want to see and where we want them placed would be useful. Or, have them hidden until we roll over a tab, or pull a tab out, or click in the name of the window or something like.

Wouldnt that make the images smaller?
No. They could just be stationary within one big window. Or, show/hide based on a mouse rollover. And optionally be docked or undocked as desired. There are many, many ways to program secondary window placement.

My screen resolution is set at 1440 x 900 on my 17" diagonal screen. I am attaching a screen shot of what my SCAL workspace looks like. None of the smaller screens get in the way.

Maybe the 'resolution' to the problem would be to change your screen's reolution? (sorry about the pun!)

No, it doesn't have to do with the resolution. I have a 22" widescreen and have plenty of room for my windows. The point is that I don't always want the SCAL windows to take up so much real estate on my desktop. I sometimes have multiple applications open simultaneously, or I want to see something on my desktop and have to move each windows around just to see my desktop. I'm suggesting the possibility of having drop-down lists, menu choices, movable windows within one container. Take Word for example. Word uses a drop-down list at the top of the window for fonts and each font name is displayed in its style of print. Word has properties available from a menu and a window displays when requested and you have to close that window before moving on. Like SCAL, Word uses a magnifying glass to display the preview of a document printed within the confines of the main document window. Some of the windows we have could be displayed a little better or in a different format to tidy up the application and make it a little more self-contained. Then, in order to see my desktop or whatever, I only need to move one window rather than 4. That's all I'm suggesting. SCAL is a great program - I'm thrilled with it!

I just went on a weekend crop and took my laptop with SCAL as well as my baby bug. The individual windows were very much in my way when I wanted to do anything on the mat. I was constantly juggling them to get them out of the way. They were also in my way when I switched between SCAL and AMP font organizer to see what fonts look like before using them. So having the windows as drop-downs or menu selections would be very helpful.

and I typically cut with the 12 x 24 mat... so there just isn't enough room! :|
