Tri-Fold Shutter Card

Post by scrappercarmen »

Hi, all. Just sharing the card I made with SCAL and the pattern that was converted for me. I hope you like it :) I'll try to add the file.

The card will not fit on a 12x12, but if you copy and paste and maneuver it on the mat - you have to cut it twice, it works perfectly. The pattern pieces are 1/16" smaller all around.

I used the cuttlebug to emboss the front, and an svg from SVGcuts.com for the wrought iron, the spellbinder die cuts for the corners and the squares.

The paper is double sided from Costco.

Any questions, just ask :)

Here are the svg files for both the 5.5 x 11 and 5.5 x 12. They cut like butter!! For more information about tri-shutter cards go to splicoast stampers blog.

Happy cutting!

This is so popular right now Carmen; thanks for creating it in SCAL! May I double-check if it's SCAL 1 or 2? (Hopefully I didn't miss where you already stated that since it doesn't let you look at the original post while typing a reply.) :)

Your version is so elegant and detailed! Thanks for the advice to go to SCS also for more ideas.

Dona, I didn't create the file, but a very nice person from this forum did. I have to ask him if it's ok to share his identity LOL. I used SCAL 2, but it was created in Inkscape, so I guess you can use either version, neat, huh?!

so help me a little bit here...

do you cut BOTH files twice? I'm having a hard time visualizing what to do... One's a template, and one's a card??? Which one should I cut?

Hi Carmen

The card turned out great :)

My wife has been making the Tri Shutter one.

The files can be used for either SCAl 1 or 2. There are no layers but the cutout for the card and pattern pieces are all together in one file. Just need to position the artwork in SCAL to only cut out what you want.
Oops there goes my secret identity :D

The Dark blue sections are the Pattern pieces The pink is the cards. The cards also have score lines included. If you don't want those you will need to go into inkscape and delete them one by one.
When you import into SCAL you will need to position the SVG so that you cut what you want. Or even better, if you can use inkscape separate the pieces and save 2 files.
The Tri Shutter file is 12" wide so either cut on a larger mat or cut on the 12x12 and you should only have couple of small cuts to do by hand near the edge of your cardstock. You could also size it to fit the mat but just make sure you resize the pattern pieces also to maintain proportion.

Cheers
Craig

Shelley,

The card and the pattern pieces are all in one file. It doesn't fit exactly on the 12 x 12 mat, so you have to position the pieces so they fit on the actual and virtual mats. What I did was copied and pasted and used the arrow to turn it around so both pieces would fit and I used the 12x24 mat.

Craig is the one who made the file so just read his post since it probably makes more sense than me :) Craig would you please capture the picture of the pattern and post it here so people can see, thanks!
