Contact ProvoCraft and let them know your PC crashed - and get a new activation code. If you don't have a receipt, surely they have a record of your purchase.

about SCAL not using the cricut cartridges, I see things this way, You may be able to create designs or take advantage of all the free designs share here or other sites without having to spend the big bucks!

also consider that Inkscape is free, plus all the free fonts and dingbats at your disposition.

I bought about eight cartriges when I first bought my cricut and i rarely use them.

I do LOVE my SCAL and am trying to talk my sil into buying it. I need to play more and learn how to do more with it though. I was just hoping I could use my cartridges - wishful thinking.

There are ways to use SCAL with your carts. You can cut the shape out of a solid color dark paper, scan it, and trace it (SCAL 2 should work well for this). Some of the older carts are available online as vector pdf files and you can open these in Inkscape and select the pieces you want and save them as svg. The newer carts are not available as vectors though since PC wants you to buy the carts. HTH
