SCAL 2.....Can't view any shapes in box

SCAL 2.....Can't view any shapes in box

My shapes box is completely blank. I was told Ctrl 3 would make them appear,
but no such luck. Any ideas???? I have also shut my computer down and
rebooted....no luck.
