Help - cutting lines that I didn't draw in!!!

Post by Moxie »

I am new to designing my own files and I have done my own butterfly svg but SCAL is cutting an two imaginary lines I did not put in the design. How can I stop that happening?

Thanks

Chances are that you have open lines. SCAL requires closed shapes (unless that is different with 2.0? Please?). If there are open lines SCAL will connect the endpoints with a cut. Look at your file in Inkscape for open lines and make them into closed shapes. It's hard to say more without seeing the file. HTH

It sounds if you are still working in the trailmode. Did you purchase a liense and key in the code in SCAL?
Bye for now.

Yes the closed shape thing is likely ... as its joining a line up automatically - it's not triaI mode as I have been using SCAL for a few months but not done anything this complicated yet.

Thanks for your replies I will have another look.

If you open it in Inkscape and use the node tool and click on the edge of the svg that is giving you trouple and the design only has partial nodes showing on the design and none in some of the areas of the design you have open lines. If there are sections without nodes means there are broken or unconnected areas. Or if you use your color picker and make it a color it will show you where and if they have broken lines, You can't tell by looking at it. Even if they touch doesn't mean they are connected.

If you will post your svg someone here can look at it and see if they can solve your problem.

Please don't get discouraged. When I started to make svg's out of the box templetes it gave me fits finding all the unconneted areas.

I ran into that same thing too, I trying to draw a slit in something I was making (inkscape) and it was on a curve and When i previewed it in scall it connected the top of each line, frusterating!
