Girls, check out one of the posts on the CDS message board (I've already ordered my stamp making kit BTW)...you can buy the blade separately from the company.

Re: CHECK THIS OUT!!!!
I just want the blade! The acrylic material is expensive, I think! Nice to see they are testing it for use with "other" material...I HOPE CHIPBOARD!!!

Re: CHECK THIS OUT!!!!
I was told by a rep at http://www.stickystuff.biz (I think the owner?) that the angle of the blade makes it cut thicker materials (including craft foam) easier. She warned, however, that the downward pressure of the Cricut isn't as great as some of the other cutting machines, but the blue-cap blade should cut thicker materials easier on the Cricut. I haven't tried any of this -- just passing along info I got.
Re: CHECK THIS OUT!!!!
I went ahead and ordered the set...the blade and the sheet of acrylic. I finally, after hours of googling, discovered what you need to get for the sheets....it's polymer in a bag. I don't know what the process is for making sheets out of it as I lost interest once I realized I probably wasn't going to find sheets to purchase.
I'm thinking the people who offer the kit make their own polymer sheets. If anyone else can google and find out different than I did, please post. Hopefully there are sheets out there. If not, I'll settle for cutting plumber's rubber with this blade and see how that works.

Re: CHECK THIS OUT!!!!
Are you talking about plain old acrylic? The clear plastic stuff everyone has been making albums from? Kinda like plexi glass (sp?) but thicker? Try Lowes and Home Depot. You can buy a BIG sheet and they (Lowes I don't know about the other) will cut it for you in whatever size you need. Also they sell it already cut in 8x10 sheets. I think and don't quote me on it... the big sheet is 24 inches by 24

Re: CHECK THIS OUT!!!!
No, not acrylic sheets, but acrylic polymer (as in the kind of soft acrylic that the acrylic stamps are made out of).
