Hi everyone,
I have seen so many creations that people have used their SCAL and vinyl with and I have become so inspired!!! I am always looking for quick gifts for friends and family for birthdays and other celebrations and I have gotten some really cute ideas from this board. I am always amazed at the ideas and you all need to be given big kudos! One of the ideas I have seen and I myself would never have thought of it was the tiles. What a great idea! I have friends that are moving into a new home this month and I thought that this would be a great house warming gift. What I am curious about is do I have to prep the tiles first before putting the vinyl on it??? Do I need to wipe it down with something first.....rubbing alcohol, water?? Or is just a good soap and water bath a good thing? Christmas is coming too and now that I have my SCAL I am so excited to get started! Thank you to you all for your help and the inspiration!

Re: Prepping tiles to use with vinyl
I have made a few tiles and I just cleaned them off with water so the vinyl would stick.

I have made many tiles. They are just beautiful! They make GREAT wedding ,anniv. new home gifts. All I do is wipe them down with water. The nice thing is if you make a mistake you can just take the vinyl off and redo it. If it gets sticky just use goo gone from Menards to get the tackyness off and dry VERY good with a soft cloth. Check out my web site and you will see some of the tiles I made. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me.

Re: Prepping tiles to use with vinyl
I have done a lot of tiles & glass blocks! I clean them both with water and apple cider vinegar (it smells better). The vinegar removes dirt and oil from the tiles. Make sure it's totally clean & dry before applying the vinyl.
If you make a mistake or want to start over. I soak them in the sink (usually overnight) to remove all of the glue & vinyl.
Good Luck, Dana
