Create Shadows for fonts

Hi,
Can someone please tell me if there is an easy way to create a shadow for a simple word cut with a font that I have on my computer using scal. I do not have a cartridge for this font. I also can not figure out how to use the .svg creater programs.

go to the properties box, style and choose shadow
