Do I have to have inkscape?

Hey there! I'm a SCAL "technical virgin." I've used it just enough to know how to import svgs from other places and cut them on my cricut but I have no idea how to alter/edit any of them much less CREATE an svg file of my own. Do I have to have inkscape in order to create my own svgs? Thanks.

No, you don't have to. You can type words, weld & shadow them, in SCAL. You can create things with the shapes that are in SCAL in the fonts box. But if you want to do anything more than that you can download Inkscape, & the best thing is that it's free. Don't worry about stressing out over making stuff. There are tons of videos on Youtube about making things in Inkscape. Take it slow, and if you want to do a project a little out of your league, do it waaayyy ahead of time so you have time to figure everything out. Trust me, it will only broaden your Cricuting skills, not limit them. And, most importantly, have fun!

Thanks! I downloaded inkscape last night but haven't had time to play with it yet. We'll see if I get good at it or if I just keep "scrap-lifting" from other people.
