new ds update

I just read on the cricut mb that they have the new update for the ds. should we do this or will it mess up my scal??? Thanks for any info

Do you use DS? If not, no need to update. If you do use DS you only need to update if you've purchased the latest cartridges. If not, don't update and no problems with SCAL!

According to the cricut board, this is just a library update, not a new version. There is no change to firmware, as I understand it, so SCAL should not be affected. At least one person on another board has reported a successful update with no issues for SCAL. But don't take my word for it. I am a Mac user

Yes it's compatible, as it's only a software update not a firmware update (as stated above). I've installed and can still use SCAL without any issues. Have fun!!

I also have installed the new Design Studio update and added one of the new fonts and my SCAL is working fine.

Have been watching numerous boards, twitter, etc. Not a single report of trouble yet. There are some installation quirks, but no troule with SCAL after update.

Not exactly related but I'm having DS issues myself. I have a new computer and cannot get my ds trial to run. As soon as I click on it, I get a message saying it has encountered an error and needs to close.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Sorry Lora I haven't had a problem with it, so I am no help. I just did the font update & everything works fine!

Lora, I have the same problem! Only I don't have a new computer...I just haven't used DS in awhile and tried to do something on it recently and it has that same error message. I have tried everything...uninstalling, reinstalling, updating...all to no avail. I am fed up! I tried to contact Cricut via their contact info online...no response. Very frustrating to say the least.
