Decals for your car?

Post by cassandra »

Has anyone here made decals for your car to promote your business? If so, have you tried contact paper? Thanks.

I made some tinkerbells, and beautiful signs out of the vinyl, and clung them to the windows of my car. They have been on about 6 months, and are just now showing signs of wear, lol. Time to replace. I haven't tried putting them directly on paint. but they have held up thru the car wash on the windows just using the vinyl.

Is this the contact paper from Walmart that lines the cupboards? Or is this another type?

Thanks

I make decals all the time for car windows. I use Oracal 651 from the Sign Warehouse. Check out this link for a cut that I made and scroll down to see it on a window.

Oh wow, that's cool! Thanks for sharing, is that paper expensive and is there somewhere in a store to get it? Thanks

The best way that I have found is through Sign Warehouse. I have not found a retail source.

If you want something for outside, be sure to buy outdoor grade vinyl from a vinyl company, like AveryVinyl.com or the sign outlet store that Todd mentioned. I have a couple of decals on my truck for my other passion - my horse - and they have been on there for 4 years with no sign of wear. You can buy different grades of the vinyl - some are guaranteed for 7 years - some for less.

That looks like a really good deal! I wonder how this vinyl compares to Oracal?
