MAC -- Ever had a problem downloading svgs?

Has anyone ever heard of a problem downloading svgs because the computer is a mac? I have not heard of this before. One of the followers on my blog is experiencing this problem and I don't know what to tell her. Help?

Sometimes an svg will open, either as a graphic in a browser or as a text file in a text editor, when the intent is to download it. All the person needs to do is save it using whatever opened it, making sure to preserve the .svg suffix.

I've had the same problem downloading svg's from 2 or 3 blogs, the svg file would download as a text file. I finally read somewhere to use Firefox as my browser. And it works!!!!

Sometimes the files are downloaded as filename.svg.txt which causes them to open with the text editor. You need to click on the file. Choose Get Info from the menu (right click). On the Get Info dialog box find the filename and extension (about half way down and delete the .txt leaving only filename.svg Hope this helps

I had someone this morning with the same issue - I just finally emailed the file to her. Wonder if it's the same reader?

I used to have the issue, but I read somewhere that I had to download X11 and have that open before I can view it. Otherwise the SVG's won't even open. Other than that, no, I have never had problems.

I am on a Mac and I have not had any problems from this Forum. I don't really download that much from other sites, but I don't recall any problems.

Part of the problem is that many Macs don't have a right mouse button and left clicking often opens the file since it is xml. If you are experienced, you don't recognize this as a problem. If you are a newbie, you think you just got the world's longest error message

Right, the newer macbooks do have the keypad options to right click (or two finger tap as a right click). I believe my friend who got her macbook 2 years ago doesn't have the option, but if the pad is all one thing (no separate button for click), then you have the option...

Of course I wouldn't know about the Mac desktops...
