In my experience "mixed" style is more of a default rather than an option to select.
For example, if you change the style of the first letter of a word to "shadow" but keep the rest of the letters "normal," then when you select the entire word, the style will be considered "mixed"-- since there is more than one style amongst the letters that make up the word. So nothing too exciting to add. But it is nice to note that the style isn't limited to entire words, that letters can even be different from each other.
