Multiple Pages, etc

Post by meri929 »

Hello, I would looooove if similar to cricut design studio there were multiple pages you could make with the different shapes and backgrounds so you would not have to save the shadow in a different file to cut it separately. Or...similar to sign making software, have the ability to assign colors to the shapes and then be able to specify what colors you would like to cut.

Totally agree! This is a must have. I was very disappointed that this was not a feature when I purchased the software. A single project can need multiple pages easily.

I would love to see this, too, but until then I use layers in Inkscape as a workaround. Is great to be able to turn layers on and off as needed, save, import and cut, then repeat til all "pages" are done.

Does the Layers function answer this request? Also, you can import multiple SVG files and they appear as separate layers. Is that enough?

Hi:

Like Jasen mentioned, I use the Layers function to create separate "pages." I put several design parts in the same design, but on different layers. Then when I go to cut, I just hide the layers that I don't want to cut and keep visible the layer(s) that I do want to cut. For example, I'll have the top and bottom of a box, and the score lines for both top and bottom, all in the same .scut file. That way all parts are in the same file and score lines are lined up with each object and the objects are proportionate to each other. To cut the top of the box, I hide all layers except for the score lines and cut those first. Next I hide the score lines and make visible the layer with the Box top and cut that. Then I change to a different color paper, and repeat for the bottom of the box. All 4 "cuts" are done with the one .scut file.
