You'll never buy another cutting mat!

Post by ninja17 »

I've been using the same mats since I got my Cricut, and I've done ALOT of cutting! Get some 3M Super 77 spray adhesive. Place your mat on old news paper as the over spray is VERY sticky. Hold the can so the spray goes out, not down, about 2 feet above the mat. Give the quickest light spray you can, don't over do it, a little of this stuff goes A LONG WAY!!! My mats only need sprayed after 20 or so uses.

Some people here also like Zig Glue. You rub it on instead of spray.
Did you also know that an Alcohol free baby wipe cleans up your newer mats. I cleaned my mat once and it was like brand new. I am probably good for a couple of more cleanings before I have to apply any glue.

Don't forget that you should mask off the edges of your mat so the glue doesn't get on the rollers.
Some of us are also making our own mats from flexible cutting mats or template plastic, an even cheaper alternative.

I've had a lot of luck with June Tailor's Quilter's Spray. It lasts a very long time.

Pazzles Mats are wonderful! I am still on my first one after many, many uses. It is super sticky and stays that way. They are a bit larger than the Cricut Mats, so you just trim one side...not both sides or it will be too short.

I use a quilt basting spray and baby wipe it when it gets too fuzzy. I still have my original mat after hundreds of cuts... I also have a tip about trimming the mat on my blog http://craftomatic31.blogspot.com/

I use Elmer's Craft Bond Multi Purpose Spray Adhesive. It's acid free and does a great job.

I use the large Zig glue. I have one mat that I reglued with the Zig glue and have used it for over a month of nonstop cutting.

Over here in the UK I use Crafters Companion repositionable spray adhesive and find that very good too although I have the large zig markers, I will try that one next, one of my mats is a little dodgy at the mo so needs a full clean and a restick!!
