How to change the font on an existing scut file

Post by firstcut »

If you want to change the font on an existing scut file you make yourself or download there is not a way to do that from within the program without starting over with each text block. Here is a way it can be done, though.
When you open the scut file in scal, click on the text box you want to change and note the exact name of the font. It appears at the bottom of the properties window.
Open the scut file in a text editor such as notepad (windows) or textedit (mac). Do a find/replace all operation with the exact name of the font you want to replace in the "find" box and the exact name of the new font you want to use in the "replace with" box.
Save the scut file under a new name, keeping it plain text with the .scut extension.
Open the edited scut file in scal and you should see that your original font has been replaced with the new one.

Kay,
Great idea.
This is what I had in mind when it came to converting Cut to Scut, but alas the programs are different. If there was a way that we could get the X Y and T coordinates from Cut files, we could probably apply the same process.

Yes, Talan, that discussion the other day definitely got a lot of wheels turning. I am really not interested in the cut files, but I am fascinated by svg and how it can give us these complicated designs with just text. Very cool!
Theoretically, I suppose we could fix the mat/calibration problem.

Kay,
I never thought of that. Let me know when you figure it out. LOL
