OK so now that THAT's clear :) , I can't wait to make enough money from sales from my etsy shop so I can buy SCAL!

My SCAL projects are wayyyy too exciting, I haven't even really read everything and checked out everything SCAL can do but I am too excited!

I wanna make my own images/pics then cut them out using SCAL onto some colored ceramic transfer sheets so I can fire it in a kiln and turn them into pendants! I hope it works!
I hope you can buy it soon too. You idea sounds fantastic! :) I know about needing to save up for things. I'm glad I bought my SCA when I did b/c right now I'm arse broke and if I had waited I'd be right here with you saving. At least now I've got stuff to do to keep myself occupied when I can't do much shopping! lol

Maybe it will decrease a bit, but if they come out with unique designs on their carts, unique fonts, unique pics and themes that everyone would want (sports, wedding, etc.) then why would SCAL cut into their profits. As far as I'm concerned Provo will still sell carts for their cricut machines - past and future. Those who were interested in carts (like myself) before CDS and SCAL for the convenience of cutting dies without the need of a computer, will still buy the cartridges. If you want to cut more fonts than are available through the cartridges or have a Mac machine (like myself) and want to play even more, then there is no other option than SCAL at the moment. If they were to decide to "break their machines" so as not to work with SCAL, don't you think they'd lose even more money than just the profits on their software and carts? They'd lose sales of their machines to these people as there are other options out there - think QK silhouette, Robo, Wizard, etc. As far as I'm concerned I believe the cricut & scal combination is the best of both worlds and Provo would be shooting themselves in their pocketbooks if they were to break their machines. There's just way too many other options out there.

I agree with you. If they continue to make Disney or other layer-styled carts they're going to get tons of money from me! I love the layering. It creates a style that you can't get with a dingbat. :) Sure some can probably figure out how to make layers with SCA using the different dingbats but I personally don't want to take the time for that. I'd just rather have it all done for me already, cut it out and glue it all together. :) Also there are times when I don't want to use my computer, that takes time. I just want to throw in a cart, cut and be done...so that is another reason I won't be curbing my cart buying b/c of SCA.

Someone said something to me that made me go "oh my gosh, that's probably right!" and I thought I'd share. It's about the change in the tone of the Cricut MB. She told me that she's noticed at over at the 2Peas MB alot of those members have started investing into the Cricut and that they are migrating over to the Cricut MB. Well, I'm not a member of the 2Peas board b/c I've seen how nasty it is over there and want to stay far, far away! So it made me think that maybe she's right...maybe that's why things have changed? It's just a theory and I have no idea if it's true or not but it made some great sense to me!

That would explain a lot if the Two Peas people have migrated to the Cricut MB. I began noticing the inflamatory back-and-forth a month or two ago. What's up with that?

Too much drama for me, so I've cut way back in my participation over there. I just don't understand why some of them are so upset about SCAL. Though, I must say, there are still many wonderful people on the Cricut MB.

You are so right Nicole. I will never stop buying their shape cartridges. They are beautiful and easy to get an image cut and layered.
I love SCA and probably won't be buying so many font cartridges though (well, maybe that new one that looks pretty good, lol)

I have to admit I got involved in one of the threads over there that has drug out for a couple of days. I recognize a couple of names over here too ;) One in particular was started with someone warning about PC voiding our warranties etc. then the original post was removed, but the thread kept on going with 5846 hits, and 152 replies with 8 pages. Then someone wished a "pox" on us, hoped PC found out we were using SCA, and could give our cricuts a "virus". Too funny  I got so I was looking up that thread just to see what insanity was going to happen next. And yes, I made a few posts. I think it has died down now, but nothing can "rile up" that Cricut MB like someone posting something about SCA. I'll bet Todd had no idea what kind of "monster" he was creating.
I have to say that the atmosphere on this MB is sooo much nicer. I was just thinking earlier how glad I was that I could come here for advice and information, and not have to wade thru a bunch of "what I did at the laundromat...etc." I hope this MB stays calm :)

waving hello - total newbie checking in.
(disclaimer - I also post at 2peas, but I didn't come from there if you know what I mean so no stones okay!) ;)

anyway, if any of you have a Wishblade and remember when CraftRobo machines first came on the market, the situation with PC and the SCA should sound eerily familiar. Wishblade/Xyron did their best to scare off consumers of the CraftRobo machines, and always managed a way to charge their customers for something that the CraftRobo customers got as a freebie (remember, its the same machine - just the software is different). Now there's the Silhouette and yet again, QK has manipulated the software so that any designs can't be shared between all the other machines.

These companies just don't get it. They can't see beyond their nose on their faces to the big picture. And PC is no different than Xyron was - they think by huffing and puffing that everyone will follow the corporate line and not question their knowledge. The only problem is that you know full well that they had the technology to do exactly what Todd has done, but they (just like Xyron back in its cartridge days with WB) are more worried about the cartridges they have to sell.

Their designs are creative and original - their cartridges will sell - the machines will SELL ... but having SCA is sorta like having the frosting on the cupcake too ;)

I am very disappointed in what is happening on the cricut board. I don't know whether it has got too big, or whether there are just a few stirrers. I keep saying I'm not answering any of the bad posts but sometimes they are just so ridiculous you feel you have to say something. I would much rather post here and know I am not going to be attacked.
