I know how you feel I just got the Cricut Expression after having a barely used personal cricut just had to have the SCAL program got that downloaded okay then I downloaded inkscape....but now the hard part downloading fonts and dingbats I have no idea what I'm doing I'm feeling like a dingbat right now I spend all day reading instructions on these sights and seems like it is way over my head too...and there are some really talented people out there and I am feeling really stupid right now..wonder if I will ever figure it out..Just thought I'd let you know you're not alone..good luck

Well, me three.

This is waaaaaaaaaay over my head, but too much fun to let go

I think that we need practice, practice, practice. on the good side, there is may talented people who share their works in this group! without them, i don't know what i would do. LOL. Also, once i realized that i can be very dense, i started searching the net and found out several places that share svg or scut files. :D

I think we're not alone.

Hi i will try to help you all.Go to start and click on controll and you will see your fonts file click on the fonts folder and then drop it down. Then get on the enternet and find your fonts you wont Rt. click on them and save them to your desk top and that way you wont have to hunt them.If they are not in a zip file rt. click on them and hit copy and look down at the bottom of the page where you drop down your fonts folder and bring it up and right click any where on the page where you see all the fonts that have been saved on your computer and hit paste and then saved. Now you should see them in your SCAL.
Now if they are in a zip file you will have to unzip them before you can save them in your fonts folder.Let me know if you have any questions.

Sorry to hear you are all finding it a bit stressful to start out, but rest assured, you will soon be breezing through and making your own files and sharing to your lil hearts content with others.

Don't forget, the best way to learn these programs, such as inkscape, is to just keep practising, even when you think you have got it figured, do the same thing over and over and it'll stick and make sense.

As for nabbing great SVG's, check out the SVG threads here and don't forget to check out all the blogs that people show in their siggies, there are so many places to get FREE svgs, plenty of crafters who freely share their knowledge and talents with us all.

Hope you have fun with your programs sooner rather than later :)

Cheers Kris :)
Check out my blog for free svgs ....Enjoy :) Kris

I just got every thing loaded onto my laptop and ever since I downloaded SCAL my computor would lock up when it was trying to start-up..so now its at the shop and they told me today I would loose everything on it ..and not being to computor smart I had nothing backed up...what I am wondering is if anyone else has had this problem..what causes this..is it just a fluke thing that happened or is it from downloading so much stuff like fonts and new programs like SCAL..or what didi I do wrong that might have caused my computor to crash...if anyone has some knowledge on this I would appreciate hearing it..Thanks
