Saving SVGs

Ok. I am new to the SCAL scene and I have seen some wonderful SVG's that I would like to save and use with my expression, but I can't figure out how to save the ones everyone has posted. If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

Click on the file that says "name.svg" then a window will pop up. hit save and it will ask where you want to save it to. Pick a place and hit save. There you go!

I made a folder on my desktop called "svg files" and save all mine there. Inside the folder I have mini folders by category

To get the svg into SCAL, open SCAL, FILE, IMPORT SVG - now choose the svg from where you save it!

Just a little trick that really helps me... I don't want to clog up my hard drive with eventually thousands of files (since my fonts are already huge on the hard drive as is!) So, I keep my 8gb memory flash drive plugged in all the time (and copy it to another flash once a week so that I have one for backup). I'm also careful that I don't 'travel' with my flash because they are too easy to lose!

I don't leave these file 'loose' either;I created a folder called 'SCAL' and they all go in there.

A second thing that helps greatly is I have a second folder called "SCAL pictures of finished projects". I highlight, copy, and paste into WORD any pics available to match the files, and I give them the same NAME as the svg files so they are easy to cross-reference. Then I have a reference to quickly open up and peek at all my 'butterflies' for example, rather than having to import every SVG just to peek at them.

I've seen a great link here where folks use svg viewers; but I haven't had the time to figure that out yet and I actually love copying part of the website with the pic because maybe they give several layout ideas and text to offer tips and tricks, etc. to match. I love to save and be able to see the cute colors, papers and embellishments that were used with the files.

you are so organized! I classify my files by categories but i see you method is more detailed and i like it. sometimes I feel bad when i don't know who or from where i got it. I began making changes and adding more detail like you do.
