Post by just maxine »

Can I change GSD files to sgv files using Inkscape? I have a freind who has a ton of these files that she uses with her Silhouette.

Is it possible that she can convert them for you. I don't think you can pull in a .gsd file in Inkscape. I don't see that as an import option. Maybe she can open the file you want and then save it as a .svg file.

Have her open a file and then do a Save As...click on the drop down arrow under File Type and see if .svg is an option. If so, save it as an .svg file and then open in Inkscape.

You can't go GSD to svg in Inkscape, GSD is peculiar to Graphtec software and can't be opened by other programs- although several programs say they can very few actually give good results.
What you can do is: open your gsd in its software ( Robomaster, Silhouette, Wishblade) then do a screen shot, save as jpeg and open and trace in Inkscape OR print as .pdf open in Graphics program, save as jpeg then trace in Inkscape.

You can, but it takes a little work. while in your robo master, wishblade master, open the file you want to convert. Then go to file, and output settings. Drop down menu, pick Ithink it is microsoft viewer. Under properties, check the box that says "print cut lines"
Now at the bottom of that box it says output to printer, click that. It will open it up in microsoft viewer, then save as a jpeg, and you can open it in inkscape.
The only problem I have is it is not like you have a solid image, and are making cut lines around it, it is a cut image-- so on some graphics, you may need to fill them in and then to your trace. hope that helps!
