Cricut (baby bug) & Cricut Expression cutting slow...

Hi there eveyone! I'm very new to SCAL and was wondering about something.
When I use either of my Cricut machines it's been fine cutting pretty quick with any of my own files that I create in SCAL or Inkscape and some that I purchased from My Scrapchick & SVG cuts they all cut fine also. A friend gave me some of her files (I think she uses Pazzles) that she converted to SVG and they cut but it takes forever!!! Both machines cut them so slow and I put the setting on Max on the Cricut and In the SCAL software.
My concern is that it will do something to my machines. I guess I don't care if it's slow as long as there is no risk that my machines will break. HELP??????
Does anyone know about what the problem could be or if it's ok and it won't hut my Cricut?

It won't hurt your machines. The files probably have too many nodes. The more nodes there are, the longer it takes to cut. You could open them in Inkscape and simplify by selecting the shapes and Control L. Watch for shape changes though.

Really that's good news! I was worried when it was cutting that slow, I thought that something was wrong with my machines!
