I'd like to bring everyone's attention to the Forum Rules since there have been a lot of new people join the board (YAY!).
It is FANTASTIC to see all the files being shared, but PLEASE keep in mind that posting files of copyright protected material/images is not only against board rules, it is against the law & is considered copyright infringement.
see the forum rules here:

Avoid cross-posting - Do not cross-post the same message to multiple forums. This will be treated by the moderators as spamming. Please use your best judgement to select the single most appropriate forum for your post

linda, this post is hardly spamming.lindamac wrote:Avoid cross-posting - Do not cross-post the same message to multiple forums. This will be treated by the moderators as spamming. Please use your best judgement to select the single most appropriate forum for your post
I have cross posted to bring this serious matter to the attention of everyone because the forum rules are being over looked.
copyright infringement is stealing.
when someone posts an image of a punch to trace or post the file of that image so that no one has to buy the punch, that is indeed stealing. if 100 people don't buy the punch because someone posted the file, then they too have stolen. That's a huge loss for the designer/maker of that punch.
Imagine if you were the designer of a particular punch or image & your sales were minimal because a file was being widely distributed without your consent. It's not ok.
thanks for your patience and understanding.

so Jancy you have never used someone elses artwork? Isnt using a font someone else has made for your own purpose an infringement of copyright?

Can people share a picture of something they have made and not the file???
an example is puglady....she has made some great pages using the Cricut Carts, so NO violation with copyrights. She isn't posting svg files just sharing her work. I LOVE to see others designs, it gives a lot of inspiration. I don't want to see her stop posting because of above comments.
Thanks

well, Jancy, you are such a ruler follower, I was just posting one of the forum rules which stated not to cross post or it would be considered spamming. If you are going to follow one rule you should follow them all. I think we all get your point without having to read it in every section of the forum. I think if Craft Edge doesn't like something that's posted, they will either remove it or ask the poster to remove it. Of course if Craft Edge is paying you to police this site by all means go ahead. I'd make you a badge but then I would probably be infringing on someone's copyright.

Do not post copyrighted or illegal material - Do not post copyrighted content here such as articles or images without the express permission of the copyright holder. If you wish to reference a copyrighted item found elsewhere online, simply link to it. If you acquire permission to repost a copyrighted piece here, add the phrase "posted with permission of the copyright holder" to your post. If you don't know whether or not something is copyrighted, assume it is.
Re: FORUM RULES -- PLEASE READ
Actually, AuroraMarie, svg files ARE images. The statement says "articles or images".
We just need to read the fine print about copyrights on the images we want to share and obey those rules. If we can't find any information, assume it's copyrighted. We can post a picture of our finished project, say where we got any images, even post a link to the image. We get excited about our projects and want to share so we don't want to, or forget about, following copyright rules. Just respect the original work and the copyright statements. Post pictures of projects. Describe how you put it together. Provide copyright-free images and post links to sites where you found copyrighted images. You can always ask the image author for permission to post their image as well. Sometimes it is ok to post an image if the copyright allows you if you are not going to make money from it; others say never post; while some are in the public domain. The rules vary per image, so read the print. Ask the originator for clarification or permission if desired.
Nobody is looking for a fight. I think we all really want to do the right thing. We get wrapped up into what we're working on and in our excitement and desire to help people, we post, post, post. We just need to step back and think about what we are posting.
