Problem cutting

Post by vickihill »

I made a svg file of a roldex card. I imported the resulting svg into SCAL. I then made 3 copies. I arranged them all in a row along the top of the screen. I saved and cut the file. SCAL cut just exactly what I had designed. The cards were just a bit too wide, so I deleted the the copies and modified the original to be narrower. Then I copied and pasted it three times, and arranged them in a row along the top again. The resulting image looked just like the first one. I tried to cut it, it cut only three of them. I turned off the cricut and turned it back on and tried to cut again. It cut only two of them. I turned off the cricut, closed the software, turned on the cricut, opened my file. The image still looks right, but when I cut now, It starts in the middle of the mat and only cuts two. The two cards it is cutting are exactly what I want, just not enough of them and not where I need it to cut. What am I doing that the cricut seems to be starting where ever it wants to on the mat??

I'm stumped ... does the scal file look right in preview? is the mat size set correctly? sounds like your cricut didn't get reset somehow. Are you waiting until scal is done before you turn the machine off? My cricut seems to prefer that I do the cancelling on the scal screen instead of just stopping the machine.
Since you have an svg, might be easiest just to start over with a new blank scal document.

Thank you very much for your help. Your suggestion that I check the preview (duh!) was just what I needed. Apparently, what you see on the working screen is not necessarily what you cut. It's probably a bug with the software or my computer or me..... Anyway, by using the preview mode I was able to create just what I needed. Thank you thank you thank you.

I'm pretty sure it's a bug in SCAL, but fortunately one with an easy fix. Glad I could help.
