I'm having trouble getting a welded word shadowed... Has anyone figured this out? I'm thinking it's like CDS so I'm doing it with those steps... Type in word - weld. Then I type in word again and change font style to shadow. But when I try to move one word on top of the other (and i've tried each one being "on top") either my program freezes and I have to close down or I can't get the shadowed letters to select so I can nudge them to get them lined up.... The only letters I can grab are the normal style ones...
Anyone been successful at shadowing???
How do you shadow in 1.006?
Re: How do you shadow in 1.006?
I'm not having any trouble with "shadows" per se.
All I have done is typed the word, make sure that the word is highlighted, go to properties and select the shadow feature that I want.
What I can't figure out is the weld feature.
If I type a work and then check the flip box it flips! If I check the weld button nothing happens. Do I have to manually "nudge" the letters together first?

Okay... I think maybe I have it figured out.... at least this way works for me
but first... yes you have to manually move the letters so they are overlapping - select the whole group of letters then check weld
this is what I did.... I typed my word - nudged the letters - welded it.
Then I used copy to make my shadow layer - pasted it to the mat - selected it and changed the font style to shadow -
When I lined the two layers up it was perfect.
I tried making a 2nd shadow the same way - copied/pasted/changed the font style to shadow and then also changed the shadow size from 3 to 5 - then I have two layers of shadow...
I don't know if this is the way they intended it to work, but it's the only way I've been able to get it to work..
I also noticed there's a minimize button!!
****
OK - After playing around some - the way I described above works great - as long as you type everything all at once. If I type a word, then move to a different spot - add a shape to weld to my word then I run into the problem of not being able to select the shadow to move it... and my software keeps freezing up... hmmm... will keep playing... And still with no group feature it's hard then to line up the word and the object shadow layer with the original layer, cuz when I move it for cutting, of course it comes apart....
*** I just was thinking about this and wondering why can I do shadowing in CDS so much easier than here - and it's because we can have more than one mat open at a time.... and preview with multiple mats..... I think that will be a must if the shadowing is going to work... Am I thinking that right???

Is there a zoom feature anywhere that I am missing or do we post that to the wish list?

PLG1117, I just played around with the new features and I've had no problems making welded words or shadows plus I can weld two separate objects together...just make sure both objects have 'weld' checked just like in CDS then I move them together; when I do a 'preview' it shows that they are welded together.

Re: How do you shadow in 1.006?
I'm not having any problems with weld or shadow.. it's great.. I have only done fonts..but I have skewed the letters. My machine is cutting slow and choppy. Seems different than before the new version.. I did put it on max speed and it made it somewhat faster. I'm not in a big hurry but if it is suppose to be as fast as before then maybe I should get it figured out. I love how it is so easy.....
