Cricut Markers and SCAL

Post by Tingha Treasures »

The Cricut markers can be great for doing text headings and simple dingbats.
Set pressure to 2 on Cricut and in SCAL under preferences set speed to medium.
I found narrow fonts fill in and wider ones have a great outline.

Dingbats can be marked out as is.

See pic for details.

Yes I have the markers and I think there great! I did see on another post someone suggested cutting first then come back over with the marker instead of the other way around, and I agree....

Just two tips I have
When inserting and removing the marker make sure you put a small piece of scrap paper under it so it doesn't hit your design accidently

When swapping the marker and blade be gentle with the housing as you can push it slightly which will make the second cut or marker be off line slightly.

I had also seen a tip that claimed you can use the 'mini' sharpe markers (the ones that are half the regular size, often in 'fishbowl' bins for like.99 near check out registers);I haven't tried it yet . A little less expensive but you have more color choices with the cricut markers.

The ladies on the cricut message boards are using those mini markers (they were using them BEFORE provo craft came out with the markers!!)

The markers are actually too thin but if you put one of those pencil grippers (foam things that come in packages of about 10 - in different colors) over the marker it works perfect.

I've used the mini crayola markers (thin ones in my cricut) and the image turned out great.. You can also buy the mini gel pens to use...

I think I was having a brain freeze when I couldn't figure out how you were getting the pens in the machine since the hole for the blade is so small. I tried to imagine that taking the cartridge out of the pen and adding the foam pencil holder to make it a little bigger...I was still pondering when Lightning STRUCK

You take the blade carrier out and just put the pen in the same spot! DUH!

I am willing to admit this since I'm guessing, perhaps falsely, that I'm not the only one who needs pictures to GET IT!

I'm off to buy some mini's or something.

Thanks ALL
