easy trace

Post by Tinadejonge@mac.com »

I don't know if anybody has found this yet, but it has made my life so much easier. It is a program that does auto trace... works really neat!!! It traces whatever you import/scan into inkscape into a vector image. Super easy!! The dude in the tutorial talks really fast, I had to stop the video a couple of times to see what he was doing, but it is well worth it!

okay its fairly complicated to run unless you are a real computer geek/nerd
You have to unzip the downloaded file and place two files in your windows c drive
You run the program from the Command prompt unless you know the original DOS computer system for the commands Id stay well away from it IMHO

Potrace is built into Inkscape. It is the tracing engine that Inkscape uses when you select trace bitmaps under the path menu. The pre-processing program mkbitmap that comes with the potrace download would probably be helpful but it is a terminal style program so most of us will be better served pre-processing in a photo editing program we are already familiar with.
