I went home last night and tried opening SCAL first and then turning on my Cricut. It didn't work.
I have the latest version of SCAL. I checked yesterday when it was mentioned.
Really bummed!
Re: Really bummed!
I am now wondering if I have the right driver for my USB connection. If anybody is using Vista and can take a snapshot of their screen and post it here, that might help me out. You will need to have you Cricut attached to your computer so the computer recognizes the USB connection. The screen I am looking for is the Driver Tab. To get there, open Control Panel,System Properties, Hardware, Device Manager. At this point, double click on the USB Serial Converter and then Click he Driver Tab. If you can take a screen shot of this page so I can compare it to what I have, it would be a great help.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Good News as of right now. My friend Mike fixed the problem. It seems that I needed to install a second driver for a USB Serial Port (com4). I snipped a picture. If you have Vista you might want to check this out!

So glad you got it working again. I felt the same way yesterday, It seems to be a tempermental program doesn't it? Not really, but not all users are computer gurus either!! Happy cutting!

Can any of you help with this identical problem in Vista? I've been working since last evening, trying to figure this out. I get the exact error messages that she listed above, and I'm told that the download has been successfully done. However cricut is not identified. I also don't understand your language about USB ports being 1,2,3,4. I only have a wireless printer conntected to my Vista (64 bit) lapatop. Why is this not working?????

I looked in 'device manager', but I don't have the same list as is pictured in this thread. I just don't know where to go from here. I could just scream...
