I just found this fabulous web site about Kirigami. BEAUTIUFL! http://www.moddidaypeople.com/easy_cut_ ... ments.html
It's filled with patterns on making pop up cards using the Japanese Kirigami method. They offer a free pattern if you sign up. The patterns aren't very expensive either and they are beautiful. I going to buy some. Lots of them!

I went to that site and purchased the Dancing Butterfly one. I guess with PayPal pmts it will take a few days to clear with the holidays and all.lindamac wrote:I just found this fabulous web site about Kirigami. BEAUTIUFL! http://www.moddidaypeople.com/easy_cut_ ... ments.html

I saw a guy demonstrating pop-up cards on http://www.createandcraft.tv/WatchTVLive.aspx
and he showed one that looks just like the one I bought. Looking forward to giving it a go. Hope I can convert it to .svg so that I don't have to do all the cutting.
Love the finger puppet demos on Utube from that site you posted. Watched the making of the Samurai warrior... so cool! Even the eyes move and mouth opens!
TFS!!!

Re: check out this web site!
I bought the special for $11.99 and got 24 patterns. I am going to scan one and play around with it in Inkscape so I can use the Cricut to cut it out. Gotta figure out how to make both sides in Inkscape.
Another thing I just discovered. I found some web sites that have screen shots of stuff on the Cricut mat for DS. You can import that picture into Inkscape and get rid of all the mat lines and keep the cut lines. It is easy. If it is from a cart I don't have (which is most of them) I can get some extra things to cut.

I cut the half file and traced it all out to the full pattern on paper, scanned it, put it in Inkscape and am presently working on it. If that doesn't work I will send it to you. Thanks!
also I sent my two used blades to talanhart so he can play around with them to sharpen them. If he can do it he will let me/us know.
