I am having a heck of a time. I tried out both MTC and SCAL and went with SCAL 4 thinking it may be easier to learn, but that hasn't been the case at all.
I've got an SVG file in which I have separated the objects. I cannot get one (closed) object to fill with color, and am at a loss as to what to check. I've watched tons of videos but have never seen this addressed.
Can anyone here help? I see a lot of posts in this forum that are never answered, and sincerely hope mine isn't going to be one of them.

Re: Object won't fill with color
I'm not sure why it's not working. I just opened my software. I clicked on an element to select it, then went to the color pallet, then went to fill and clicked on the colored square to the right of the little dropdown. I chose a color, then clicked ok, and it turned the color I chose. You have to make sure you select the piece you want to color before you go to the color menu.
If this doesn't work, I'm not sure how to help. But, there are lots of knowledgable ladies here that will be able to help as well.

Re: Object won't fill with color
My best guess would be is that the shape is not completely closed all the way. So the software is seeing it as a line that didn't meet the other end.

Re: Object won't fill with color
Well, here's what happened so far. I sent this file to an admin on a SCAL FaceBook group. She brought the file in, ungrouped it, and then broke it apart....and was able to do a color fill.
Now, when I open this file in my SCAL 4, the option to ungroup is gray....cannot do. I break the design apart, and of course there are the different pieces - all of which I can do a color fill on except one....the main one. The admin person is able to do a color fill on it without any problem. But then she has "ungroup" available to her whereas I do not.
Why would that be? I purchased and downloaded the program from the Craft Edge website. It is Version 4.032.
Any ideas?
And thank you all for responding!

Re: Object won't fill with color
I have this problem with at least one object on most of the SVG files I import. They import and display just fine on Chrome/Illustrator/Affinity Designer and Photoshop. I've raised a couple of support queries a few weeks ago but had no response.

Select the entire shape then go to path then select close path and see if that works.

Re: Object won't fill with color
By default SCAL will only fill shapes that are closed. If a shape is open, you can close it by choosing Close Path from the Path menu.
In the Preferences under the Edit tab, there is also an option "Never fill open paths" which is checked by default. You an uncheck that and it should apply fills if the path is open.
You should also make sure under the View menu that Show Outlines Only in not checked.
