Help cutting this reindeer image

Post by sowatcher »

Can someone please please help me? I want to cut this elegant reindeer image for our Christmas cards. I have two problems. It stops cutting and freezes at his hind legs. Also, it's an outline cut and I would really like to use a solid shape.

I've saved the scal file to this message. I don't know how to use Inkscape because my computer won't hold anymore installations right now, so I can't fix it myself.

Could someone be an angel and take a look at it for me?

THANK YOU!

Here's what I did.
I can't share what I did as I am not the original creator. Perhaps someone will get permission to upload the adjusted .svg or scut file from whomever posted it.

I downloaded the jpg file, not the scut one.

Imported to Inkscape
Trace bitmap
break apart, and delete all the extra pieces
path simplify to get rid of extra nodes
made a duplicate of the image and did a path outset twice to make a shadow image for the background

It turned out fine.

I hope this helps some of you. If you need help with Trace and Break Apart I have tutorials for both on my blog. There are three tutorials, start with the oldest one TRACE BITMAP and then work up.

Oh, my goodness you all are fast!

I'm so sorry about the file not opening properly. It was a free dingbat of a reindeer, and it is on the "M" key.

I fixed it for you. This is a cute deer but it would have been a nightmare cuz it had lots of cuts in it which would have made your reindeer split up in pieces.

I used break apart and have posted 2 files...one with the silhouette and the other with the parts (u can use different color paper to cut)

Hope you can use it.
