separating the colors to cut
separating the colors to cut
[attachment=0]IMG_20150822_185224.jpg[/attachment am new to all of this. I am using scal with a uscutter. I have a design that I am trying to cut and can not figure out how to separate the different colors. It's probably really easy and I'm probably just dumb but can anyone give me any suggestions please?
Re: separating the colors to cut
Are you using pro? I do my layup in illustrator and bring in the parts I need for one color along with registration marks. I'm not sure if I completely understand you need, but if I were doing it, I would leave the black as the blackground so you're only cutting the exterior shape, and then cut the white, knocking out the exterior black. I "think" only pro has the layer feature, right?
If the surrounding black isn't part of your sign, then you could actually run the cut once and each vinyl, you're just going to weed differently as all the shapes are necessary for both colors.

No, that is not correct. The regular SCAL utilizes layers and you can place different items on layers by "color" if you want to. What the PRO version does (I believe but not positive as I have not paid for the Pro version) is it allows you to issue a "cut by color" command so that it cuts the different parts and pieces based on the color assigned rather than having to utilize the layers tool and open and close the different layers in order to cut the layers separately.
However, I too am not sure exactly what jenjen88 is wanting for the colors/separations so I cannot give more specific help. In looking at it - I am assuming that you have a white square box that you would cut out as one layer, then the 2nd layer would be the black "overlayer" that you would cut everything out from and then "weed" out the white areas from the black to give you what you want to overlay on the white sqauare (in otherwords, weed out the white letters showing and the other excess pieces so that you then have the black to lay on the white square and the letters would show through from the white background. IF that is the case, then I would put the white square on the bottom layer and the rest on the top layer. Then close all but the layer I was wanting to cut, cut it, then swap and cut the other layer.
