previewing files

Is there a way for me to see what the file is before I actually have to open it? I ma using a PC windows 7

I use Mystic Thumbs. I think it did cost me a few bucks, but well worth it. Just Google it.

I googled it and mystic thumbs has a warning not to use and it does not say it will open svg files. Do you have a link?
