New Expression and Can't Update Firmware!

Post by LABs Nana »

I have had CDS for about 6 months and have NEVER been able to use it. I continually get the message that Explorer encountered a problem and has to close! Now when I try to use my Expression, it tells me that I have to update my firmware. BUT I can't! Can SOMEONE PLEASE help?
I sure would appreciate it.
TIA,
Juanita :(

Why do you have Explorer open? That's a browser. You update your firmware from the DS program. Under the Help tab at the top is Update Firmware. Hope this helps.

The Explorer error does not necessarily mean that Explorer is open. It's kind of a generic Windows error and if there's been a problem that message will display.

If you have this error, try rebooting the computer and open DS and go through the instructions talanhart gave.

I apologize for the misinformation! It said CRICUT DESIGN STUDIO has encountered a problem. I cannot open the program in order to update the firmware.

You should check with Cricut customer service or check the cricut.com website...that error is usually a conflict of some type. They might have more info there.

I had a problam with one of my PC's... my desktop would not work for updating firmware, but my laptop did. You could update the firmware using a different PC. If you don't have 2... find a friend and use theirs (install DS trial and uninstall when finished). Just a thought.
