I have had the SCAL program for quite a while but have been too chicken to use it until today. Well, I designed what I wanted (had my baby bug hooked up) and when I selected "cut" the bug displayed USB connected and the computer had a pop up window that said connecting and then checking mat but never did anything else. I left it for about 20 minutes and nothing. So I thought maybe I needed to update the firmware so I did that and the same thing happened. So what am I doing wrong? Now that I've gotten brave enough to use SCAL I can't figure it out. Could someone out there please help me?
TIA!

That happens to me some times as well. You will need to shut everything down (SCAL & the Cricut) - hope you saved your design prior to trying to cut it. Open up SCAL, turn on the cricut, then try cutting your design again. It should now work. Sometimes it kinda 'freezes' but for the most part it's awesome!

I tried cutting everthing off as suggested and still the same thing. I can't believe this. Any other suggestions?

Did you reboot your computer?

Do you have a cartridge in?

I did reboot the computer and I did have a cartridge in. I'm ready to pull my hair out. I've been trying to figure this out all day.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
Awhile back I created a design and didn't clean all the extra nodes off my mat. There was one I missed way off the side and until I zoomed out I did not see it and thus when I went to cut it just went through the balloon pop ups check mat checking cart etc but wouldn't cut. You might see if you have a stray node that lands way off side.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
There are days I have this problem, even with things I have cut before. It can get very frustrating so I am going to keep an eye out to see what people have to say about it. I usually just start and stop several times then give up till the next day, it seems like it just magically starts working again. Glad I'm not the only one with this problem.

Could you post your design and let me look at it to see if I can figure it out.

Silly me didn't save it. Sorry. I'm glad I'm not the only one to experience this. I was beginning to think it was me!
