Embrillance with Eclips and Ecal?

Post by jkeough »

I can't get the SVG files to import in at the right size. I have tried changing the DPI but they are never the right size, when I resize them they don't seem to be cut to fit the applique position stitches correctly. No other machines seem to have this problem on the embroidery forums...they all import the SVG files that Embrillance saves just fine. I am almost at the point of selling my machine and buying another as especially on terry cloth, cutting around the applique after the tack down is so annoying!

I tried doing some research on your question, but am a little confused. From what I can tell "Embrilliance" is software designed to work with an embroidery machine. I am not sure what machine you are referring to and how SCAL fits in the question. Embrilliance also does not handle .svg files according to their website.

Perhaps you can explain a little more.

Curiosity got me going as I've been exploring purchasing an embroidery/sewing machine when my daughter got interested in sewing this summer. I even pulled out my sewing machine and had it service.

What I have learned about "Embrilliance Essentials" is that it has coordinated efforts with the Silhouette for the Cameo cutter to cut svg designs to be used as appliques in embroidering. I can't explain the whole process, however, here is a link with a You Tube video that may help you out.

It was quite interesting to me and I don't see the same compatibiity with the eClips at this time.

Do you stitch first and then cut? How do you line up the cut with your material? Looking at the blog post it does look like you should be able to do this since it has multiple export functions for different machines. Can you post a screen shot of your cutting file (with cut lines selected) in eCAL? I'm wondering if there is something extra around the cut lines that is throwing off the dimensions.

This may be something that you will need to contact Craft Edge about directly though. http://www.craftedge.com/support/support_form.php

Sorry I never saw replies to this thread. Embrillance allows you to save the shapes of the applique designs to be cut by a cutter. It saves in many of the popular formats, for a wide variety of machines. Their current stance, with the customer support I spoke to is that their designs are compatible with any cutter that has the formats they export. I am able to load the SVG's into ECal, but they are not sized properly. When I resize according to the size in Embrillance it cuts it out kinda wacky, not matching my embroidery.

My friend has the brother scan and cut and she is able to do this perfectly, with no re sizing with the .svg files...even using ones I have taken off my computer directly from Embrillance. So it has narrowed it down that it is Ecal. After googling my butt off I found that it had DPI settings, changing it did allow me to get it closer to the sizing in Embrillance, but not close enough to use. I was hoping to figure out maybe how to get it so it would load these at the right size. It makes embroidery SO much easier when you can pre cut the fabrics with heat n bond lite and not have to cut around after the tack down stitch. Especially on the items I do most....terry towels. Their is only one cut line in Ecal, I will get a screen shot in a moment.

I attached both the sizing of the Embrillance file, which should only be inflated 1.5MM to allow the tack down stitch to pick it up. I also attached a SS of the SVG in ECAL with the sizing next to it. A big difference! I tried playing with all sorts of settings in both programs and I can resize the ECAL file to match the Embrillance one, but they do not match when it is cut out. I am just thinking it is not something I will get in this program/cutter. However, cutting around the applique fabric on the terry towel is getting extremely annoying! So hopefully I can figure something out, since a new cutter wont be in our budget till next year :(
