SCAL question

Post by mrfibble »

Hello :)

just recieved my cutter ( a Silhouette Cameo ) and am going to get SCAL3 on monday I have a question though well 2

1) does SCAL replace the software that comes with the machine in terms of talking to the cutter
2) does SCAL3 allow me to save files in the Silhouette format to use without it being on my computer in as such as I can save the files and load them on to a SD card so I can use the cutter at work without having to take my computer to work with me ?

cheers

SCAL will not replace the software that comes with the cameo. You will be able to use both.

SCAL does "not" save in silhouette studio format. It will save in .svg or .scut format. Wish it did and that you can import .studio files, but it does not.

Have fun with your new machine.

1. If you were only going to cut using a computer then yes, SCAL3 could replace the standard software. Some people use both.

2. Nope. SCAL3 can save images, svg files, and the native scut format. If you really want to save your files to a memory card there are ways to do it, but it would involve a bunch of steps and another program.
